Unit Plan Progress

I'm still trying to work out the kinks of my unit plan. I've been working with my consultee for several weeks now, and I'm still having trouble figuring out how much time her kids will need. It's so hard to get computer time, so I sort of have to plan the unit around the computer schedule. 

Drafting an NTeQ Plan

I'm currently working on designing an NTeQ plan for Mrs. Barber's class. Soon I will observe her class in order to tailor my unit to her teaching style and her students. I know that, like me, she has co-taught classes, meaning that roughly 1/3 of her students have IEPs, and there is a "co-teacher" with her all day.

Differentiation is essential in the co-taught classroom, since students' abilities run the gamut. The best way to differentiate in these circumstances, I've found, is to group kids by interest. So, for my 1920s project, I've brainstormed the following specific topics: Sports, Fashion, Inventions and Discoveries, Crime, The Harlem Renaissance, and Entertainment.

I still need to outline specific activities and requirements, but I want to observe the students before doing this. Wish me luck!
